Director (Adult Day Center)

Reports To: CEO / Founders
Position Type: Full-time / Part-time

Position Summary:
The Adult Day Center Director is responsible for the overall management, strategic planning, and daily operations of the adult day program. This includes overseeing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, developing programming, managing budgets, and maintaining a high standard of care for all participants. The Director ensures that the center provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being for adults with varying needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Administration

  • Provide overall leadership and supervision to staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.

  • Create and implement policies and procedures that align with licensing standards and best practices in adult day care.

  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards.

  • Oversee administrative duties such as enrollment, billing, budgeting, and reporting.

Program Development

  • Design and evaluate engaging, person-centered activities that support the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social needs of participants.

  • Collaborate with caregivers, families, and healthcare professionals to develop and review individual care plans.

  • Ensure programming reflects the center’s mission and promotes participant independence and community engagement.

Financial Management

  • Prepare and manage the annual operating budget.

  • Monitor expenses, identify funding opportunities, and maintain accurate financial records.

  • Assist with fundraising efforts and grant applications, as needed.

Community Engagement & Advocacy

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, caregivers, community partners, and regulatory bodies.

  • Represent the center at meetings, networking events, and public engagements.

  • Advocate for the needs of adults with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or aging-related conditions.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct regular assessments of program effectiveness and participant satisfaction.

  • Address complaints, concerns, or incidents promptly and appropriately.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, and excellence in service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in social work, nursing, healthcare administration, gerontology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory role in adult day services, long-term care, or related field.

  • Knowledge of adult development, chronic health conditions, dementia care, and person-centered planning.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with Medicaid waiver programs, licensing regulations, and healthcare documentation.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

  • Clear background check and health screenings required.
